Recently, the free games scene was kind of absent from Steam. Besides the usual Free-to-Play titles that the platform has, not many new opportunities came up for player to actually get some new games for absolutely no bucks. This week things are a bit different, because there are a few interesting titles that you can grab for free on Steam, with two of them in particular, the reason being that they share a lot of common points.

I am talking here about Metro 2033, the first game in the Metro trilogy, and STALKER Anomaly, one of the most popular expansions for the base game that is meant to enhance the base experience.

It's great to see such titles being available for free on Steam, even for a limited amount of time. You can even look at the as a bundle, because they share the driving point of their stories.

In both Metro 2033 and STALKER Anomaly, you get to experience a lot of the Eastern European culture, mostly Russian, or more specifically what is left of it, taking into account the fact that both games depict a post apocalyptical world that was brought to ruins because of some event of nuclear nature... if we were to describe it loosely.

Jumping into the main story of these games is, if not anything else, a little breath of fresh air. Even if we are talking about the world the games are set in or their main story, the fact that they are based on a different perspective from the western one clearly brings a plus to the games and makes the discovery of the world, the story, the characters and the elements of Eastern European culture make the whole adventure worth while, so... grab them while they're hot.
