Back in January 2017, the giant Marvel, announced a multi-year deal between them and publisher Square Enix that would result in the arrival, on our gaming devices, of the most popular superheros of their Cinematic Universe.

The first title that was announced to be in the works, was Marvel's Avengers, set for release later this year. As we have seen from the E3 2019 announcement of the game and the game demo released to the public following Gamsecom the same year, the game doesn't bring on the silver screen heroes, instead it will be showing a brand new original story and will introduce a Marvel gaming univers that gamers will be able to play for years.
Marvel is keeping up the same strategy for games, as the one they used for movies and that is, getting all the best talent on board. The game will be developed by Crystal Dynamics, responsible for the reboot trilogy of Tomb Raider, and they will be helped by Eidos Montreal. As far as individual talent comes, Marvel has enlisted the help of Shaun Escagy, former Naughty Dog creative director, and Stephen Barry, known for his work at EA and Visceral Games.
After delays in the development process, the game is set to be released on September 4th, 2020 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
In terms of storyline and what can we expect from the Marvel gaming universe, the new, reinvented team will take on the evil organization called AIM, which will be the main villains of the game. In the announcement trailer from E3 2019, we saw a big celebration dedicated to the Avengers that was interrupted by a massive attack on the city of San Francisco. It is mentioned that, major Avengers foe, the Taskmaster is behind the attack and will be part of the game and also The Abomination will be present, giving Hulk to have a huge fight at some point against his enemy.
Probably, the most important aspect is the Avengers line-up. Even if the actors of the silver screen will not be part of the game, the original Avengers team will be featured with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow and Hulk, all being present. What is weird is the absence of Hawkeye from everything the game had to show until this point. In his absence we can see other characters like Hank Pym making an appearance and a new hero in Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel.
More information can be seen in the Game Overview trailer that puts a lot of accent on the customization aspect within the game.
