Forbidden West, the much awaited Horizon Zero Down sequel

A huge bombshell was dropped a couple of days ago during Sony's reveal event for the PS5 and that was the much anticipated sequel to one of the best games in recent years, Horizon Zero Dawn, is now a certainty.

The sequel bears the name Horizon Forbidden West and will continue the adventures of Aloy while she travels to the western parts of a far future, post apocalyptic America. Even if there are not many details about the game at this point besides the announcement trailer, the footage is enough to give us an idea about some locations in the game. The landmarks show the San Francisco as one of the areas available in the game with the Palace of Fine Arts being sunken and the famous Golden Gate bridge taken over by vegetation.

Regarding gameplay, from the trailer we can see that Aloy still has her earpiece indicating that the focus mechanics are still part of the game. She is also shown to ride a Charger, which means that she either created a brand new spear or maybe she learned, or will learn, some new skills during the game in order to achieve that ability. A big thing that is revealed in the trailer is the big focus on underwater exploration, adding a lot more to the game.

The release date of the game is still a mystery, with no speculation about a possible window. Taking a look back at the first game being release in February 2017, the sequel could have the same window release, which will make it one of the first major games of the new PS5, after the console releases this Holiday season, but that is still uncertain same as the exclusivity. Horizon Forbidden West is announced as a PS5 exclusive, but since Zero Dawn is coming to PC this year, it is very possible that the sequel follows the same path and will actually be a timed exclusive for the PS5.
