SnowRunner, the successor of Spintires and MudRunner, enjoyed a dedicated fan base in the first month since launch, with over one million players. Recently the biggest update was released bringing some major changes.

The Rift update, brings a few improvements to the game fixing unrealistic collisions, fixing terrain glitches, fixing major issues like loss of a truck if the player leaves a certain map, and many more other tweaks that you can find in a full post on the SnowRunner forum that you can access here.

The biggest addition to the game is a brand new map, called obsequiously The Rift. The map can be found in the Russian region of Taymyr and can be accessed through Quarry. The map brings new contracts and new upgrades to be found, but most importantly the most difficult terrain to navigate, which will give some troubles to every player and every vehicle.

While the game is good at what is does by offering a slow and calculated pace to the gameplay which is not for everyone, it does kinds miss the point it set for itself. With the addition of this new map, the players will experience more muddy terrain which leaves just one region of the game be covered in snow. It not really a good selling point for the game since there are already two games in the series focused on muddy terrains... and also there is snow in the title.
