New WWE game after 2k21 cancelation

Freshly announced, WWE will have a new game this fall, in the usual slot that would've seen the release of WWE 2k21 this year.

The global pandemic has affected every aspect of our daily lives. Many businesses and even sports have taken drastic measures to insure the safety of everyone. The wrestling business it's on the list too, being seriously affected by the Coronovirus, as we have seen promotions around the world changing their schedule or having shows with no audience.

Even more then the actual wrestling shows, wrestling games have been affected. Since it's all about business, WWE, the biggest company in the industry, and 2K Gams, the publishers of their licensed annually video game series, have reached a common conclusion to cancel this year's title, that being 2k21.

Even if the current game, WWE 2k20, has proven a broken mess, fans of the series, and of wrestling games in general, still had hope that things will improve with the next game. Since it was canceled, all the hope went out the window, but... there was a little bit of good news, since WWE said that they still have plans to release a video game this year.

Those words, that were just rumors until now, have turned to reality. WWE and 2K Games are continuing their partnership and they have just announced a new game.

The game in question is WWE 2K Battlegrounds. The trailer that just dropped on the internet shows how different the game will be from the usual series, by presenting cartoonish graphics and goofy fighting mechanics... as we can deduce from one scene where we can see flaming fists... or that other one, where The Rock throws John Cena to alligators.

The new game doesn't have a fixed release date, but it's set to come out this fall, a spot usually reserved for the classic 2k series. You can watch the full teaser trailer below.
