Call of Duty, one of the most popular game franchises in history, has been front and center many times in news titles for many reasons, sometimes big reasons, like a reinvention of the series with the reboot of Modern Warfare, or the launch of Warzone, a battle royale mode that is available for free.

This time, the big news that puts Call of Duty front and center is literally big. In case you have been living under a rock, over the years, the Call of Duty games launched with bigger and bigger file sizes, with those sizes becoming more and more ridiculous.

The file size of Call of Duty games has reached its peak with the latest release and is already creating problems for some fans of the game. If you happened to own an standard version of the PS4 with default hard drive of 500 GB of storage and you are also a huge CoD fan, than the news is bad for you. Taking into account the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War base game, with all its expansions and mods plus the Call of Duty: Warzone expansion, they won't all fit on that 500 GB drive.

The publisher of the game, Activision, has release some online statements regarding this issue and they are actually encouraging players to uninstall part of the game that are nor necessary, like some expansions that they just don't use, in order to actually play the game... but even so, in this situation there will only be room for Call of Duty and no other game.

The post that draws attention to this problem talks about storage problems on the PS4 but it doesn't mention anything about Xbox One users. Not sure if the file sizes actually are that different on the two consoles but it seems that it's going to be okay for now if you own an Xbox.
