A major leak that happened yesterday, regarding the new Naughty Dog game, The Last of Us Part II has set the internet on fire. In a very sad turn of events major plot points and key moments from the upcoming game were spoiled.

You don't have to worry about any of it in this article.

The leak is not the only bad news here, unfortunately. The studio in charge of the game, Naughty Dog, has been in the news recently and not for good reasons. Back in March, Kotaku's Jason Schreier, wrote an article about the toxic environment within the studio during crunch time.

As we learned in recent years, crunch is a very present aspect of a game development cycle that brings only bad news. What we know to be crunch time, refers to the practice of one developing studio where they push their employees to their limits and beyond. During such times, the people that are tasked with the creation of a game work at least 80 hours a week, having almost no personal life outside work, which only leads to the development of physical and psychological problems like burnout or depression.

There are rumors that this was the cause for the leaks. The practice is bad, but even if in the industry the practice is common, Naughty Dog have the bad reputation of standing out.

There are reports circulating online that mention the fact that the leak came from an employee that is in a dispute with the studio, mainly regarding pay. The reports also mention that in an effort to get back at Naughty Dog, the employee chose to take this approach in order to create some damage.

Regardless of what the real situation might be, Last of Us Part II is one biggest triple A titles around and many fans have been waiting a long time for its release. The leaks, unfortunately did have an effect on many people, but Sony is trying to take care of things by taking down any material that might consist in a major spoiler to the game.

If you want to keep yourself away from this huge mess, I recommend not using any related keywords to the game on Google and even muting those certain words from your Twitter settings, so you can keep yourselves as much as you can in the safe zone.
